Once Upon a One Night… – New Title, Same Story!

How many people here can claim that they got their publisher (temporarily) banned from advertising on Facebook? Anyone? No?

Well, I can!

Let me start by saying it was an absolute accident. I didn’t mean it, I swear! But as it turns out, a lot of advertising companies and sites don’t like promoting anything that they believe to be “mature content.” And with a title like Once Upon a One Night Stand, I can see why they’d think my book was mature and want to pump the brakes. The thing is though, that book is Young Adult and non-mature—yes, there are mentions and discussions of sex and sexuality, but all mature scenes are fade-to-black and no acts are discussed in detail. Thus, making it a non-mature story.

But…not all advertisers see it that way—which is why I and the team at Radish decided it was time to change the title to something a little less, well, provocative.

Let me start by saying that its original title was just the first thing that popped into my mind when I needed a title for a story that was a Cinderella retelling with a one-night stand thrown in there. So why not Once Upon a One Night Stand? It combined both of those things and, hey, it made me laugh! What more could teenage Simone want? I still think it’s a fun title that really encompasses the story, but if changing it to something that didn’t include the words “one night stand” in it means that I can reach a wider audience and more readers, I’m more than happy to change it!

Which is why today we’re rolling out the new title…

Once Upon a One Night Stand is now Once Upon a One Night Mistake! Not too different, but it’s going to help a lot when it comes to being able to reach more people. Plus, it still keeps what I love about the original title while still hinting at the one-night stand that kicks off the story—and the fact that both main characters think it was a massive mistake. (I mean, sleeping with your sworn enemy and leaving behind an heirloom diamond ring is a pretty big mistake, I’d say!) It also better suits the continuation (of which we’re now on Season 11!) because these kids just keep making (fun, exciting, and wild) mistakes.

Huge thank you to everyone at Radish who helped with the title change, I hope you all like the new title as much as I do! And if you haven’t read it yet, be sure to check out Once Upon a One Night Mistake on Radish Fiction!

  1. It’s funny what they did, considering that I (and I’m sure a lot of other readers) found out about Radish through an add about OUONS on facebook. I mean what are the odds?? 😅 In my opinion it is still the best story on Radish, so keep up the great work!✒️📖💜

    1. Haha isn’t it wild? First, I got us banned from advertising altogether, then they allowed us back (but only if we only advertised this story to a very select group!), and *now* with the new title we can *finally* advertise to everyone! 😂 Anyway, I’m very glad you somehow found it through all of that and thank you so much for reading! ❤️

    1. Hi there! Hopefully you’ve figured out the problem by now, but all you need to do is scroll to the top of the story page, tap on the line that says “Season __” and you’ll get a drop down list of all the seasons in the story.
